Lower-Division Transfer Patterns (LDTP) Overview

The Lower-Division Transfer Pattern (LDTP) program provides students who begin their CSU degree program at a California Community College (CCC) with clear and efficient academic paths to the CSU bachelor's degree. LDTP presents a set of "road maps" for CCC students to follow that ensures appropriate academic preparation and decreases time to graduation from the CSU. The LDTP program is an additional option for CCC students preparing to earn the CSU bachelor's degree.

The LDTP for each discipline has a statewide as well as a campus-specific set of requirements:
  • The statewide component of the LDTP is appropriate for any CSU campus that offers the major and is comprised of general education coursework as well as some courses within the discipline.
  • The campus-specific component identifies discipline-related coursework relevant to the major at the specific CSU campus.
Together these components for an LDTP discipline will generally total 60 semester units, the number needed to transfer to CSU as an upper-division, baccalaureate-seeking student.

We encourage transfer students from California Community Colleges to:
  1. Meet with your advisor to discuss your academic interests and consult the "Exploring Majors" information provided on www.ASSIST.org
  2. Review the LDTP disciplines that interest you
  3. Use the LDTP Planner to see how your current or planned college courses fulfill the requirements for the LDTP major
  4. Take the courses at your California Community College that will satisfy the statewide and campus-specific LDTP requirements
  5. Apply for admission to the CSU campus(es) during the priority filing period using CSUMentor
For California Community College students interested in the LDTP Admission Agreement:
  1. Confirm that there are admission agreements available for your chosen LDTP major, campus, and term of enrollment
  2. Review the admission criteria for the specific campus, major, and term of enrollment and determine if you can realistically meet these standards
  3. Submit the online agreement via CSUMentor for the major and term of enrollment at the CSU campus you are certain you want to attend
  4. Take the required statewide and campus-specific coursework at your California community college
  5. Satisfy all additional admission criteria for the LDTP Admission Agreements – i.e., GPA, portfolio, etc.
  6. Once you are on track to meet all of the terms and conditions of the admission agreement, apply for admission to your CSU campus during the priority filing period using the online undergraduate admission application on CSUMentor
